Stop moving, be silent and await further orders
DOWN Arm moves from the HOLD position to the
DOWN position. "Get down! Be quiet and scan for targets!"
EXTENDED LINE FORMATION Extend your arms out from your body to indicate
a change to this formation
MOVE UP or
MOVE FORWARD Get moving- arm at waist height moves
from back to front. "Move up, move forward!"
WEDGE FORMATION Extend your arms out and away from your
body to form a "wedge" and indicate to your squad to adopt
this new formation
SINGLE FILE Slide your arm forwards and back
to indicate the change to this formation

face with your hand to
indicate a potential ambush ahead
SUPPRESSION FIRE Pump arm forwards and backwards
with your hand in a fist. This means "Suppress that target!"
COVER ME Tap your head repeatedly
to indicate
that you are moving and require
somebody to "cover you"
COVER YOU Tap your head repeatedly and
then
point to a person to indicate that you
will cover for them as they move
or FLANK Make a fist
and touch it to your upraised weapon
or open upraised palm to indicate
a "flanking" manuver

UNDERSTOOD You've ID'd friendly forces, or
you understand the plan. "I see friendly units ahead"
or
"I understand that you require me to cover for you"
ENEMIES or NOT

or NEGATIVE You've
ID'd enemy forces or you DO NOT
understand the plan. "Enemy units ahead" or
"I don't understand what you are asking of me".
The thumbs down can also mean negative,
as in "no, frontal assault is not a good option!"
LISTEN
Cup your hand to the ear.
"Did you hear that?"
POINT
Used in conjunction with other hand signals
to indicate direction. For instance, thumbs up and point means "Friendlies
in that direction"
ON ME Tap you shoulder to indicate that
you want a
person to move to your location
BUNKER or OBSTACLE Cross your arms in front of you
to indicate
an obstacle is in your path
SCOUT AHEAD Cover your eyes as if your were shielding
them from the sun. This indicates that you are
directing a person to "scout ahead"
SECURITY Make a circle with
your finger while pointing to the ground to indicate "I
require security at this location" or "I require
security on this objective"
DOOR Make a larger rectangle with your
finger to indicate "door"
WINDOW Make a small square
with your finger to indicate "window"

FIELD BOUNDARY Indicated by making a sideways
"time out" signal
by using your upraised open palm or weapon.
